What better way to invite Spring into your home than with a beautiful, fresh bunch of tulips from Plum Market?

Many people don’t know tulips are one of the few flowers that continue to grow after they are cut.  They may grow straight up, or they may swoop and bend gracefully in many directions.  They may even follow the sun throughout the day!  It is always exciting to see what shape your tulips will take and how it will transform your arrangement.

Unleash your inner florist with a bunch of tulips from Plum Market—choose one color or buy a couple bunches for a beautiful array of colors.  One bunch is available for only $6.99!

You can find Tillandsia plants in our Ann Arbor store’s Floral Department.  They’re easy to grow since they require no soil (water and nutrition is taken in through the leaves) and the roots or for anchoring the plant:

Tillandsias are a part of the pineapple family (bromeliads) and are native to Latin America.  When the Tillandsia blooms it will produce off-shoots from the base of the plant which you can leave connected or divide.

Easy care instructions:  Bright light, but filtered.  Grow 6′ from a bright window or outside under a tree or patio cover.  No direct sun in summer, late spring or early fall.  Thoroughly wet your Tillandsia 2-3 times per week; more often when it’s hot and dry, less often when it’s cool and humid.  Temperature should be 45-95F.  Fertilize monthly during spring, summer, and fall using any high quality fertilizer at 1/4 the recommended strength.

We’ve recently started working with our growers to hand select classic and exotic stems and combine them into stunning arrangements. See the Dutch Delight and Willow Bird bouquets below.

We’re taking the work off your plate so all you have to do is grab a bouquet, pop it in a vase, and display your fresh cut blooms on the table.  Selections will vary by color, size, and style so you can switch up your festive display depending on your mood or decor.

Roses Are Red (and Yellow, and Pink…)

We’re really excited about our Ecuadorian roses we’re getting from a new grower, so we’re sharing our excitement with you, along with some rose care tips, so you can share these buds with a loved one.

The roses are delivered 4 days a week to every store so they’re always fresh and bloom beautifully in your home.   When you get them home remember to keep them in a cool area, change the water and trim the stems daily to keep your roses velvety and vibrant.  Remember: don’t use scissors to cut the stems!  Our floral expert recommends you grab a sharp knife and cut on an angle.

*From 7.20.11-8.2.11 you can get a dozen medium stem roses for $7.99 (regular $10.99)

Exotic Blooms

Surely, you’ve walked by our floral department and stopped to smell the lilies or hyacinth, or perhaps just stopped to admire all of the exotic colors and textures.  When it comes to choosing a floral arrangement either for yourself or that special someone, you should know a few things about our floral department.

We operate more like a florist than a traditional grocery store because we have more than packaged bouquets.  We have a single stem and leaf program so you can personalize your own arrangement.  If you just want one Gerbera Daisy to stick in the vase of your VW Beetle, you can do that, too.

We receive daily deliveries of the best Ecuadorian roses so you know they are of the absolute freshest blooms you can find and will last for days. During the summer, we work with local growers bringing you many Michigan grown flowers and plants to choose from.

Some of our favorites are:

Monstera leaves

Bird of Paradise

Proteas

Dendrobium Orchid
